Holiday tidings to all!

So we originally set out to have our first ever Holiday Sale up until the tenth but we’ve gotten so much positive feedback and publicity from the event that we’ve decided to extend the event until December, 20th 2012. For the first time in our history the Akihaboro shop is fully out of stock!! Don’t fret though, you can still see all of our previous stock on the site. We are also getting new glass in soon, so please be sure to keep Akihaboro.com in your list of bookmarked web pages to make sure you don’t miss the next shipment!

Due to the number of glass artists living in Japan (roughly 5,000) the amount of work each artist makes is much smaller than what you would see here in the United States. This is due to supply costs and availability, time restraint, as well as the already high cost of living in Japan. We promise you that we’re trying our hardest every day looking for great glass when it arises, and making sure it comes to our store. Other shops sell glass art from around the world, but what you will find different at Akihaboro is our passion for Japanese culture as well as their talented glass artisans. We strive to bring you both celebrated artists as well as rising stars thus creating an even balance of art for all demographics.

In other news we would like to announce the confirmation of two new artists who will be joining the ever-growing roster of Akihaboro artists. The first of the two is the world renowned borosilicate flame workers AKIO, known for his detailed sculpting and his elaborate scientifically accurate skeletal structures. Along with his larger works AKIO will be bringing us beautiful accessories ranging from bracelets, to marbles, to even cups!

The second artist we’re excited to be bringing to you is Kenta Higashimori, we do not have the full details on him yet regarding his techniques and history. But we do know he is a borosilicate flame worker who is creating some breathtaking works.
